Friuli Venezia Giulia innovation awards:
"Knowledge and innovation serving the market and the environment": this was the theme of the Claber project that took 5th place in the 2006 Innovation Awards sponsored by the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government authority.
Presented each year by Regional President Riccardo Illy, the awards are designed to measure the standard of innovation achieved by enterprises and public agencies, with the end in view of highlighting ’good practices’ and stimulating research, competitiveness and excellence at all levels.
The projects of the many entrants underwent the scrutiny of a scientific adjudicating committee chaired by Isaac Getz of the ESCP management school in Paris and including the rectors of the region’s universities, together with the heads of Area Science Park, Agemont, Friuli Innovazione and the Polo Tecnologico of Pordenone, who short-listed eight companies and three public sector bodies according to their level of technological, organizational, process and business innovation.
The project submitted by Claber had all the required attributes, and with the added merit that it was designed to safeguard an increasingly precious resource: water. In this instance it was the company’s Clabermeteo division, concerned with professional irrigation systems, that took its cue from the specific needs of a notably high profile client — the Montecarlo Bay & Resort Hotel — to develop a new large-scale irrigation management system such as would be able to share the same local area network (LAN) as that utilized for all other Building Automation services involved. This meant the shift from a ’closed system’ to an ’open system’, which besides affording huge advantages in terms of easy and flexible management (using the Web, if expedient), also opens up new markets and application scenarios, carrying the message of correct and sustainable water usage with increasing urgency into numerous areas of activity: large scale architectural projects, public green spaces, viticulture, and many more besides.
Recognition in the 2006 Friuli Venezia Giulia Innovation Awards represents a significant achievement for Claber, especially in confirming the importance of its corporate mission: to help safeguard an indispensable resource — water — by working to promote innovation and excellence in home irrigation and professional irrigation alike.
