| Save water, and not just in the garden |

In the kitchen
Instead of washing your fruit and vegetables under running water, let them soak for a little white, preferably with a pinch of bicarbonate. When preparing meals, make an effort not to use more pots, utensils and cutlery than necessary. And when you do the washing-up, use detergent sparingly: you’ll not only help to stop polluting rivers and the sea, you’ll also have to use less water to rinse. |
Around the home
Even a tiny leak can lead to enormous waste; just 90 drops a minute add up to 4,000 litres in a year! Bad news for your environment, not to mention for your pocket … Check your plumbing system: when all taps are closed, the meter should stop turning. And you can save a lot of water by fitting aerators to your taps. |
In the bathroom
Did you know that 30% of domestic water consumption is due to the WC flush? Every time the button is pressed, that’s 10 litres of water. Today differentiated systems allow you to choose the right amount of water necessary. And remember that a leaking flush can account for as much as 100 litres of water every day. |
In the laundry
To save water not to mention electricity, always fully load the washing machine. And not everyone realises the importance of washing temperature: a cycle at 30°C in fact uses less water than a cycle at 90°C. When buying a washing machine or dishwasher, prefer brands that guarantee low water consumption: a choice that will pay itself off over time. |
